There were torrential rains in Washington, DC; therefore, George Bush's economic policies are correct. That sounds silly doesn't it. Yet the press is full of the argument that "there is global warming, therefore Al Gore's economic policies are correct." Attempts to discuss, analyze, or criticize these economic policies are countered with arguments that point to the melting snow on Kilamanjaro.
Eventually rationality will return. Meanwhile it is frustrating.
